GO TEAM ORDINARY HERO!!!
The Country Music Marathon 2012 was an awesome start to an amazing full day packed with OH! Saturday, April 28 held our first OH Team who came together to Run 4 One in the Country Music Marathon. There were 17 awesome runners who joined together to run for our cause!
Participating in Team OH this year are (left to right, back row, front row)
Jeff Williams, Deborah Schone, Jeff Johnson, Shane Putty, Bert Thomson, Evan Webb,
Stacey Hadlock, Amanda Thomas, Colleen Parker, Kelly Putty, Fasika Bestul, Dustin Bestul
This was such an awesome group! Jeff Williams is from Brentwood, TN and is in the middle of an adoption from ET. His wife traveled with us last summer to ET.
Deborah and Stacey traveled to Nashville from Utah to join us for the run and to be here for the banquet. Deborah helps us with child sponsorships. They have both been on past OH mission trips.
Jeff Johnson and Amanda Thomas are OH supporters from Hopkinsville, Ky who came down to run for OH!
Colleen lives in Nashville and does all the bookkeeping for OH.
Bert Thomson lives in Nashville and goes to church with us and is an avid runner.
Evan has traveled to ET with OH on a past mission trip.
Fasika and Dustin Bestul traveled from North Carolina to join us for the marathon and they also shared their story at our banquet that night. Fasika was an older child that OH advocated for on our site to be adopted. She was adopted by the Bestul family only one year ago and came to Nashville to run for OH! At only 13 YEARS OLD, she knocked out the half marathon in record time with her dad, Dustin! She was also one of our top fundraisers! She is one amazing young girl!
Also, not pictured in the group, but who also ran for OH, are
Heather, Brett, and Emma Grace Scullen!
Heather was our sole FULL marathon runner! 26 miles!!! GO HEATHER!!
Emma Grace was our youngest HALF marathoner, running 13 miles at 12 yrs old, accompanied by her father, Brett, who joined her in the Half.
Go Team Scullen! They were also one of our top fund raisers!! Woo Hoo!!
Below are Dana Andrews and Ryan Vernich, who are not pictured in group but also ran for Team OH and did great on their fundraising!

Here are a few pics from the day!
I was so excited to see that they offered the MINI MARATHON this year! I am NOT a runner at all so I , along with my Utah friends, Deborah and Stacey, did our part to RUN 4 ONE in the awesome
MINI MARATHON!! We rocked, not the 26 mile race, but the awesome 2.6 mile marathon!
It was so fun!
Here we are, the MINI MARATHONERS!
YES, IT WAS HARD, THERE WERE MOMENTS WE DIDN'T THINK WE COULD GO ON,
BUT WE MADE IT! HaHa!!
Then you have the real runners!
Go Bert! He was the first OH runner that we spotted coming through the HALF.
GO COLLEEN! SHE WAS NOT FAR BEHIND BERT IN THE HALF!
Next we spotted FASIKA AND DUSTIN! You both did great!!
Next I spotted my hubby, Shane and his buddy, Jeff on the last mile of the Half!
Go Babe!
Jeff is doing great with one mile to go!
In over 30,000 people we could not track the rest of our OH runners in the crowd but we are sooo proud of everyone! I grabbed a few of us at the end for one last pic with the medals!
I also wanted to show off my little man who ran in the Kids Marathon on the Friday before the adult race. Nathan is one of our next generation who will always RUN 4 ONE, especially having been one, himself!
He did great! Go Nathan!!
More to come!
After the race we hosted our Third Annual
Change The World For One Benefit Dinner
that night!
It was an inspiring night for many!
Pics from the night as well as the video from all the pics you guys sent in coming up in next blog post.
