May Grant Giveaway Recipients!!!

This month, OH offered three grants to the top selling affiliates! $1000, $500, and $500!

CONGRATS to Lacey Bartosh for being the TOP SELLING affiliate
and earning that $1000 grant!!

Her team from North Dakota will be traveling to  Ethiopia with Ordinary Hero this summer. She was there last April and had a humbling, wonderful journey and is so excited to be returning! She says 'the smiles, love, and relationships experienced in Ethiopia are not ordinary, and the people we met there are our heroes.' The North Dakota team is eager to continue building the relationships started last April and they are looking forward to 'loving as Jesus loves'.

Also, CONGRATULATIONS to Amy Wills....

She's our second grant recipient this month! After having 2 biological children, her and her husband adopted twin girls from Ethiopia - bringing them together as a family of 6 the week of Thanksgiving 2011. They believed their family was complete, but God had different plans. They felt their hearts being stirred toward adoption this year and have just recently started the process to bring another little boy home to their family! Amy signed up as an affiliate a few days into the Grant Giveaway, and was still able to gather the support of her friends and family to earn herself $500 in grant money to put towards this adoption! What a great way to kick start the fundraising!! Congrats, Amy, and good luck in the upcoming adoption!!

And... more CONGRATS to our third grant recipient... Crystal Archie!!

Taking their children to Ethiopia to bring their adopted brother home was truly life changing for all of them and it touch their hearts and opened their eyes. When her 17 & 10 yr. old daughters found out she was leading a team to Ethiopia in June, they begged to be a part of it! She is so proud of their decision to serve, even when they know it will be tiring and overwhelming at times. She says "it makes my heart so full of joy to have my daughters with me and watch them be the hands and feet of Jesus!"

A huge congratulations to ALL of our May Grant Giveaway recipients. And, they are sending HUGE THANK YOU'S to everyone who supported them in their fundraising!  Your support in purchasing on their behalf helps make our grant giveaways possible!

New Life Center/Guest House in Ethiopia!

Kelly Putty and Kim Adams are on the ground this week in Ethiopia
preparing for the opening of our new Life Center in Ethiopia!
This dream has become a reality because of the Beth Venable Memorial Fund.
To read more about Beth's Story, CLICK HERE!
Beth lost her life last August due to a brain disease not even one year after adopting their son from Ethiopia. Her love, life and her legacy live on in Africa, and one way is through
this new life center in her honor.
This is a building that will continue to give back through ministry to people in need in Ethiopia as well as serve as a sufficient guest house for our teams and other teams and guests who would like to experience it and the blessing it will be. We are thrilled to have found a building with room to serve medical teams with the proper licensing, who wish to hold medical clinics in a clean environment. We have many purposes and dreams for this building! If you would like to inquire about booking your team or personal stay at this guest house please email Kelly@ordinaryhero.org for more information.

We are also creating a LIFE WALL in the lobby of this guest house. This is a wall that donors who would like to support this life center can have their own name or a name of a loved one who has passed away put on the life wall to have the donation credited to them or their loved one's honor. We want many lives to be represented on this life wall on behalf of the generous donations made in their behalf. One side will be lives remembered and the other half will be our monthly donors toward the life center of $50 or more listed on the wall to show all the people who have sown into this life center to make it a reality. If you would like to contribute to the life center please visit the Beth Venable Memorial Page and click on the donate button. You can also see other great things that have been springing up from Beth's life legacy and this Memorial Fund. Please list your name or that of a loved one in the memo, as it should appear on the name plate plaque. Please add "Life Center" and put either "personal donor or, in remembrance of"as well as the name so we will credit it properly.
We can't wait to see this wall fill up! Great things are about to happen!
Pictures are coming this week as we work to prepare for our summer teams and get everything ready.
Thank you to all who have donated to the Beth Memorial Fund and to those who will in the future to see that her legacy continues to live on to serve the children of Ethiopia.

Change The World For One Benefit Dinner 2013!

Our fourth annual Change The World For One Benefit was a huge success!
With over 360 people in attendance, we cannot thank all of our supporters enough!
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all who attended our benefit dinner on April 25th and to all who donated to our silent auction!
The Benefit was held at the downtown Hilton in Nashville, TN.
The night began with a silent auction with some amazing items to bid on!

Big thank you to our host, Erika Page White, an actress, adoptee, and also married to country music artist, Bryan White.  She shared some of her adoption story!

Also, big thanks, to Michael Venable, who shared the many great things that have come through Ordinary Hero, to celebrate the life of his wife, Beth, since her passing in August.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house after country music artist, Jimmy Wayne, shared his amazing personal testimony about an elderly couple taking him into their home at the age of 16 when he was homeless. They raised him until their passing. Jimmy went on a walk across America to raise awareness of the foster care children in America, and successfully urged the governors of TN and CA to raise the legal age of foster care children aging out of the system from age 18 to 21.

Thank you to Stuart McWhorter for sharing at our event about the
recent adoption of their two daughters from Ethiopia.

We were honored to have some folks in the Nashville music industry at our event. Big thanks to American Idol finalist and music artist, Kristy Lee Cook, also,
Gary Chapman and his beautiful wife, Cassie,
and Bryan and Erika White, Tim Akers, and Jimmy Wayne, for all your support for Ordinary Hero!

Speaking of not a dry eye in the house, CLICK HERE to watch the amazing adoption story of the Krehbiel Family, among others. They are truly Ordinary Heroes!

Lastly, I must thank our AMAZING committee!!! We simply could not do this benefit year after year without such amazing help from these beautiful women! Thank you, ladies for the time and energy you put into this event to make sure it is a success!

We were totally blessed by all the support! We think it was our best benefit yet!
Click here to view more pictures from the evening.
Don't forget to "like" us on facebook to stay up to date with everything we do.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to all who attended, and all who gave in so many ways!
If you were unable to attend, but would like to show your support for Ordinary Hero, you may donate by clicking here. This benefit gives us the support we need to sustain our organization each year.
We are blessed to be able to help children in need all over the world!

Christian Alliance For Orphans Summit 9 ~ Let's Hear It For Adoption!! And New Video!

The Summit 9 has made it's way to Nashville!
2500 people gathered at Brentwood Baptist Church today to kick off the Christian Alliance For Orphans Summit! It is awesome to see so many adoption advocates together from all over the US!
We were blessed by breakout sessions on Transracial Adoption and got to hear from several adoptees!
The Transracial Adoption breakout session was led by Adoptive mom and advocate, Tracy Mihnovich, along with adoptive moms and children on the panel like Gwen Oatsvall, Becky Rutland, and the Krehbiel Family. It was great to hear from each of them!

A highlight was getting to hear from Congresswoman, Michele Bachmann!
Mrs Bachmann and her husband  have several biological children and they have fostered 23 children over the years. Her passion and heart for foster care children and the Lord really shined today at this Summit! It was great to hear her story and see her passion for the orphan!

With it being Orphan Summit Weekend, we have released this newest OH Video, featuring the adoption story of Jon and Beth Krehbiel who have 13 children, 10 of which are adopted. Don't miss this amazing story, along with other awesome adoption stories, which captures the beauty of adoption!
