A New Angel In Heaven

Heaven gained a new angel today. Our prayers are with Michael Venable and his family as they endure the loss of Beth, a beautiful wife and mother. She loved God. She loved her family. She loved orphans.  She fought through a brain surgery, came out of it and fought some more. The Lord finally decided that  she had fought enough and it was time for her to rest and be free of pain.

Many thanks to the countless individuals from all over the US and beyond who prayed relentlessly for Beth and her family. Beth has her own page with pictures and a way to give donations in lieu of flowers as requested by her husband. CLICK HERE.

Beth was a friend. Many questions remain as to WHY?
Why would a beautiful mother and wife have to leave this life so soon?
Early this morning when I received the news I asked this big "WHY?" question, myself.
This is the facebook post that I wrote as I strive to make sense out of something that we simply can't understand because we are not God.

When someone we love passes, and especially while they are young, we are always left with the big question, "Why?"! We can't fathom why God would choose to take someone so soon, so young. I find peace knowing that God sees the big picture that we can't possibly see. Time is a blink of an eye and then we will all be where Beth is if we love the Lord. We have heard our Grandfathers say how fast it goes by. As we grow older we find that to be true.

Psalm 103:14-16 says...
14 For he knows how weak we are;
he remembers we are only dust.
15 Our days on earth are like grass;
like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
16 The wind blows, and we are gone—
as though we had never been here.

We try to capture time in our minds when in God's mind there is no time. We all have the same destiny and some get there sooner than others. The important thing is that we live this life with all we have, serving the purpose of what God put us here to do. It all starts with a relationship with Jesus, just like Beth had. If you don't know God, ask Him into your life....because in the end, He is all you have when we find that this life so quickly passes away like grass. Love your family, love your friends, live each day to the fullest with Joy!! We never know what tomorrow will bring. Pride and Power, and all the things that keep us from God are nothing in the end...only faith and love. Beth had faith knowing God was in control. She had love pouring out to her through her faithful, loving husband and children, family and friends. Her life was blessed. Remember God saw the big picture. This scripture always brings me comfort when people seem to pass too soon.

Isaiah 57 Good people pass away;
the godly often die before their time.
But no one seems to wonder why.
No one seems to understand
that God is protecting them from the evil to come.
2 For those who follow godly paths
will rest in peace when they die.

We never know what God could be protecting some from by going ahead and bringing them home to a place of peace and free from pain. It's not for us to understand now. If we love the Lord, then one day, we too, will understand as we look down and see this life as a blink of an eye. Live and love with all your heart while you can! Ask for God's help if you don't know how.

May God be with this beautiful family as they heal!

CALLING ALL OUR YOUNG

OH Kid's Lemonade Stand Fundraiser
across America, August 17 through Sept 3!
Online fundraising may start at any time.

OK, KIDS, IT'S TIME TO MAKE A STAND FOR ORPHANS!!

We recently received a letter from David, regarding a lemonade stand his daughter, Hannah, had on behalf of Ordinary Hero. This made us so proud, and it totally inspired us to launch this across the US!!  Kids, we have seen that you are ready to make a difference, so we are giving you the opportunity to CHANGE THE WORLD FOR ONE right from your very own yard!

Here is a bit of the letter we received from David to help give you an idea of what we are looking for.

I wanted to share with you the results of our Hannah’s Lemonade stand for Ordinary Hero.  We hosted a lemonade stand on Saturday June 30th in Clarksville, Tennessee.  It was the hottest day of the year, but we had a lot of fun!  At only $.50 a glass, Hannah raised $137 for Ordinary Hero!  We placed signs all over and invited many of our Facebook friends!  Hannah made a money bucket that said “Raising money for kids without parents.” With the help of dad and grandpa, Hannah had the cutest stand around.  There were many customers who asked about Ordinary Hero, so we are prayerful that we also raised a little more awareness along with the money!  One special note, we had friends from all over, who heard about the stand and Ordinary Hero and sent us checks for a donation!  We are excited to think that at only 7 years old, God is molding her heart for mission work and for orphans around the world.

WAY TO GO HANNAH!!! THANK YOU!!!
YOU ARE DEFINITELY A LITTLE WORLD CHANGER ALREADY!

So let's take Hannah's idea and run with it!

We are launching a giant OH Kid's Lemonade Stand Fundraiser across America, August 17 through Sept 3!

First, be sure to check your state's rules and regulations regarding lemonade stands, and please abide by those.

Ordinary Hero gives grants away every single month to families adopting or traveling on missions.
Kids, the money you raise is going to help fund these grants!
That means that YOU will help bring these orphans home to their forever families and also help fund those traveling on missions to bring much needed aid.

Kids, grab a parent and get creative! Create your lemonade stand and decorate it up to spread the word for Ordinary Hero!!
But don't stop there!
You can create your very own fundraising page by clicking HERE!
Online Fundraising may start at any time.

Paste your own page link on facebook and/or email to help spread the word and meet your goal.
You can even create your own team if you want!

Take pictures and even video if you want and send them to us.
(Email pictures to Kelly@ordinaryhero.org and video through dropbox)
Don't forget to tell us where you are from
and wear your OH gear if you have it! (No worries if you don't)

our young World Changers who are making a difference!!

Yay!!! Project Backpack was a huge success again this year thanks to Bev Stacey!
Over 50 backpacks filled with supplies were given away to the children residing at the Nashville Rescue Mission!
Thank you, Bev, for organizing this awesome OH outreach with the children living at the Nashville Rescue Mission! And THANK YOU to all of you who responded to our call in the Newsletter and donated backpacks, supplies, and/or funds to make sure every child had the supplies needed to make their first day of school a GREAT one!

We had some great volunteers show up to help with the outreach! One special volunteer was Bissy, visiting all the way from Ethiopia! He was so happy to lend a helping hand during our Project Backpack!

Gina, our awesome OH Fundraising Coach, showed up to help!
Thanks, Gina!!
Kristi and some of her kiddos show up to help each year during this outreach.
Big THANK YOU to Stacy Case, our very own Nashville Fox 17, News at 9, anchor woman, for showing up to help!
Stacy brings her fam out to help each year with this outreach.

Again, thank you to Bev and her family for always being first to help us organize our Project Backpack and to all of you who donated.
All the kids and moms were very thankful to have their school needs met for the first day of school.
