Halloween Outreach 2010

It's that time again!!! Halloween for OH brings hope to homeless children every year. I can't believe this will be the 5th year in a row that we have provided Halloween costumes for the kids living at the Nashville Rescue Mission and then provided them with a night of fun at the Bethel World Outreach fall festival.
Here is how it works and what we need......
We need you in one way or another. There are many ways you can help with this outreach. About 1 week before Halloween I will go to the mission and speak to each child and find out what they want to dress up as for Halloween. I will need to purchase them a costume or give them one that has been donated. We will then bus all of the children to Bethel for a few hours of fun, where I will need volunteers to help at the festival.
I am collecting $30 per child. This will provide them with a costume and a meal and snack. We don't want them walking past all the funnel cakes without being able to get one :) You can provide a child a costume and a meal by donating toward this cause.... OR you may choose to go purchase a costume yourself for the child once I find out who is there. You may also sign up to volunteer at the festival which is always good for the whole family, including your kids to get involved. You may also help get the little ones ready at the shelter. ( Women are only allowed at the shelter, as this is a women and children shelter)

The date of the outreach is Sat, Oct 30, 2010 from 10-3.
So if you live afar, or just can't make it, but love what we are doing, you may donate by CLICKING HERE. If you want to roll up your sleeves and get involved email us at info@ordinaryhero.org and let us know your area of interest. We have at least double the kids that we had last year.
This always proves to be such a fun night for the children as well as the moms. They get to escape their reality for a night and be a super hero or a princess. It is just what they need to bring hope to their circumstances and the moms LOVE watching their kids be kids. Relationships are formed and lives are changed.

Thanks for your support of this outreach :)

What Have We Been Doing For The Past 10 Months?? Watch this video...

I LOVE our organization because we give Ordinary Heroes, just like you, so many different opportunities to help children and people in need in all kinds of different situations, here and in Africa. Here is a look at what we have been up to for the past 10 months. See where you are drawn to help and jump on board. We have Project Restore, where we aid in crisis, emergency situations, whether that be a flood, fire, homeless mom moving into a place and needing furniture, or clothes for people in need. We have our Backpack, Mother's Day, Christmas, and our upcoming Halloween Outreach. We also have our mission trips to Ethiopia where we help bring aid and find families for orphans and street children. Jump on board whether that be rolling up your sleeves and jumping in to help or by giving financially to our organization to help us continue doing what we do best, changing the world.....one person at a time :)

This is the video that decided to poop out on us, and have a power failure, at our event. It happens from time to time :) So if you missed it at the Fallapalooza or missed the Fallapalooza, here is everything that 10 months can bring for one little organization. We are very excited to have accomplished all that we have. We could not do any of it without your help. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Korah Night at 3rd & Lindsley

WATER FOR KORAH was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the cause. This was all organized by Ashli, who traveled in our group, on this last Ethiopia trip. We all came back with a goal amount to raise in order to help provide land and water for the trash dump area in Ethiopia. Ashli out did herself. And special thanks to Kristi Neumann for helping to organize and get the bands to perform for this cause. It was so much fun.

Shoof, pictured above, was the opening act. It is an all teen band, which my son plays in. They are so amazing!!
Little Connor, on bass, is rockin it at only 9 years old.

Cole, an amazing 13 yr old guitarist

Jason, one of the best 13 yr old drummers around

My amazing 14 yr old, Collin, on the guitar.

Ashli got up and shared her heart and passion for Korah. Her surprise to everyone for the night is that she leaves next month to MOVE THERE. Yes, she is moving to Ethiopia. We can't wait to have our Ordinary Hero ambassador on the ground permanently. She is amazing!!
I shared a bit about what OH is all about.
The awesome Kristi Neumann performed a fabulous set. She included the song she has donated to Ordinary Hero for all proceeds to benefit adoption grants, called COLE'S LULLABY. Everyone go to Itunes today and download it. If you missed the last video I posted, you can CLICK HERE to watch and hear COLE'S LULLABY. It's an awesome song! Thank you Kristi, for having such a huge heart for adoption.
Kristi Neumann
Special, special, thanks to all the different bands and artists who gave of their time for this cause. They were all awesome!!

Shirts for sale
Below are pics from our ET trip of Korah displayed by the silent auction.
Special thanks to everyone who helped make the evening a success.
Charlene and her boys below.

Rick and Amanda, pictured below, are in the process of adopting a sibling set of 2 from Ethiopia. Their adoption is what inspired Kristi to donate her song toward adoption grants.
There are some great things going on right now with so many people. God is inspiring people everywhere to either adopt, support adoption, support and help the poor, and help those in Africa who have nothing. Everyone can do SOMETHING.

Blessings :-)
